That's right.

Dallas and Fort Worth is a mecca for music making. What a wonderful area to perform and to play. The Meridian String Quartet, www.meridianquartet.com, is performing as individual string musicians for the Las Colinas Symphony! This symphony performs regularly in Garland, Las Colinas, and Arlington as well as several youth concerts in the fall in Irving, Hurst, Euless, Bedford, and Mansfield. Our classical performance will be featured in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned for details...

Meridian Quartet has a successful year!

The Meridian Quartet, http://www.meridianquartet.com/, just completed a very successful year! Here is a recap of some our exciting events:

January: The Meridian Quartet performers took part in a solo recital of our very own Marcela Chavarria, violist of the Meridian String Quartet. Marcela performed a solo recital at the Ed Landreth Auditorium and Pepsico Recital Hall in the TCU Music School in Fort Worth, TX.

February: The string quartet took part in the Fort Worth Bridal Show in February. This wedding event serves brides in Fort Worth and surrounding cities, like Dallas, Irving, Arlington, Richardson, Flowermound, Hurst, Euless, Bedford, Mansfield, and other cities in the North Texas area. We were honored to be a featured performer on CBS 11, which did a feature story on the Fort Worth Bridal Show.

April: The Meridian Quartet performed in two seperate event at Tarrant County College, Northeast Campus, in April. We played new musical works specifically written for the Meridian Quartet by reknowned composer, Eduardo Perez. Additionally, these works personified two significant holidays, Holocaust Remembrance Day and Earth Day. Both works were well received and we are urging Ed to compose more works for the quartet! Both recitals played to packed houses, open to the general public on these two nights.

Summer: Marcela, Violist in the quartet, and Drew, Cellist in the quartet, http://www.meridianquartet.com/, or more information about them here, www.meridianquartet.com/about.html, spent a month in Costa Rica, performing for the public in several recitals. Drew also spent time conducting while in Costa Rica. Drew and Marcela are frequent visitors to Costa Rica and are asked back on a regular basis to perform and conduct music.

December: The Meridian String Quartet gave a free public performance of works through the ages in Lewisville, TX. We had a full attendance and reception afterwards.

In summary, 2009 was a wonderful year for the quartet. We played for many weddings and banquets. Some venues included Marty Leonard Chapel in Fort Worth, Franklin Park at Canyon Creek Retirement Home in Plano, Buffalo Valley Events Center in Denton, the beautiful and historic YWCA in downtown Fort Worth, the Old Red Museum of Dallas County in downtown Dallas, Timarron Country Club in Southlake, The White Chapel Estate in North Richland Hills, and many many others. The Meridian Quartet, http://www.meridianquartet/, is proud to be a featured Dallas and Fort Worth string quartet vendor at these venues and many others.

It's a beautiful thing to be able to take part in something beautiful when we perform for weddings. This, added to our classical music concerts, generally free and open to the public, make what we do so worthwhile.

In the future: The Meridian String Quartet is working on putting together a performance with a theater company in late April.
